The cottages are only fifteen minutes walk from the centre of the picturesque market town of Pickering which has retained its local character and friendly, unhurried way of life. Here you will find a Medieval castle, a Railway Station as well as a superb indoor swimming pool and good local pubs serving real ale and tasty regional dishes for you to enjoy.
Pickering station is the start of the North York Moors Steam railway which wends its way through “Heartbeat” country and where some of the “Harry Potter” movie scenes were located. A short distance away there is heather clad moorland, rolling hills, woodland and forest providing spectacular countryside teeming with wildlife excellent for both walking and touring.
The Vale of Pickering nestles between Yorkshires scenic heritage coast of Filey, Scarborough and Whitby with its sandy beaches and towering cliffs and the Historic City of York with its ancient city walls, narrow cobbled streets and York Minster. The area also contains many fine buildings set In spectacular scenery including Castle Howard, Duncombe Park also the majestic ruins of Rievaulx and Whitby Abbey.
