Pickering station is the start of the North York Moors Steam railway which wends its way through “Heartbeat” country and where some of the “Harry Potter” movie scenes were located. A short distance away there is heather clad moorland, rolling hills, woodland and forest providing spectacular countryside teeming with wildlife excellent for both walking and touring.
The Vale of Pickering nestles between Yorkshires scenic heritage coast of Filey, Scarborough and Whitby with its sandy beaches and towering cliffs and the Historic City of York with its ancient city walls, narrow cobbled streets and York Minster.
